Beautiful Baby Girl//Hamilton & Cincinnati, Ohio Newborn Photography

Well, Happy New Year everyone! 2010 was full of new challenges and I am hopeful that 2011 will be just as exciting and rewarding, both personally and artistically!

How exciting that I get to start off 2011 with such a beautiful baby girl! Little Miss K was born on the Saturday before Christmas and she was 6-pounds-something of just melt-your-heart baby deliciousness :) She takes after her lovely mama and I can tell already that she is going to be breaking hearts everywhere someday. She came in for her newborn shoot at the perfect age of 8 days old. She was just perfection and slept through most of the session. Kirsten, I cannot believe how beautiful your little girl is and I am so happy that she made it here safe and sound. Thank you for being so patient for your sneak peek!

One more of lovely mama-to-be Kirsten :)

Baby Love//Hamilton and Greater Cincinnati Newborn Photography

I love working with newborns so much, and I have the special treat of shooting two newborn sessions this week. I completed the first one this past Thursday evening in Florence, Kentucky, with a precious baby boy. This session was extra-special to me, because just a little over a year ago, I was privileged to do a Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep session for this family when their baby girl was stillborn. I cannot tell you how happy I was when the mother contacted me about doing this session and I was thrilled to see this sweet couple blessed with a perfectly healthy baby boy. What a Christmas miracle! This sweet little 12-day-old was the most alert newborn I have photographed so far, but I worked my magic and eventually was able to get him to sleep.

I hope everyone is having a joyous and blessed Christmas day!

Ooooops!!!

Wow, has it really been over a month since I blogged? So sorry, everyone. Life has been crazy, teetering on the edge of completely out-of-control for awhile, but nothing bad. Just so, so, so busy! I wanted to put up a few images from recent sessions, and you can see more on my facebook business page.

Sam’s senior session was definitely no-nonsense! He was in and out in 35 minutes, but we got some great shots!

My son, Travis, finally took some time out of his very busy schedule to let me take some senior pictures! He is an amazing guitarist and drummer!

OK, Dominic gets two shots, but that is because these were shot on different days :)

Kirsten is the most beautiful maternity client a photographer could hope for! She had the most perfectly rounded baby bump! And her new daughter arrived safely today, so watch for her newborn session soon!

Sweet little Carter came in for his one-year cake smash. He was soooo adorable :)

My assistant Corryn, had one last session for her yearbook shot!

OK, other than some commercial work, I think that is about it!

Hamilton, Ohio Senior Pictures//Sneak Peek for Sydney

I am remiss, because I posted Sydney’s sneak peek on Facebook, but didn’t blog them here. I did a mini-session last spring with Sydney, who is a senior at Options Academy – The Arts. Sydney is planning on a career in photography and is quite talented behind the camera. And as you can see here…she is just as talented (and beautiful) in front of the camera. We met at sunset and tried to capture the last bit of autumn color and warmth. Sydney wore the most amazingly fierce pair of boots that really accentuated her long legs, and we got some great images. So here is another sneak peek! Oh…and in case you think something about Sydney looks familiar…she is Stacey’s little sister (from my last post!).

Hamilton, Ohio Photography//Trash the Dress [TTD]//Woodland Nymph

Whew! I’m finally getting around to posting images from this Trash the Dress session I shot over a week ago. Stacey was one of the first senior clients I had, back in 2008. She is now a sophomore at THE Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) and is having the time of her life! So we met up recently to do a TTD session in a chilly creek. I gotta admit…we were a little creeped out by the swirly snake trails in the sand, and the squeaky noises under the bridge that sounded suspiciously like bats. And that water was C-O-L-D!! But Stacey braved it all, and we wound up getting some really cool shots!

So Stacey, I apologize for taking so long to get your sneak peek posted, but here you go. You are gorgeous, girl. Enjoy!

Hamilton, Ohio Senior Pictures//Connor and His Car

I recently had a chance to meet up with Connor and his mom, Kellee, to finish up his senior session. I had the perfect spot in mind to showcase Connor and his Hummer H3, and the images are turning out great! For all of you who still haven’t scheduled your senior session, remember that bella vita photography is not afraid to take it on the road, going to locations that will reflect who you are and what is important to you! And the 2011 special has been extended through October 31st. You pay only $20.11 for the $200 “Let’s Play” 2-hour session. That is a huge savings, PLUS your minimum purchase requirement will be reduced by 20.11%. Call (513)319-3756 for full details and to schedule your session!

Ohio Children’s Photography//Micah Turns One!!

My apologies. Lately it seems like my blogging runs in feast or famine cycles. The sessions have been steady to non-stop, leaving me little time to post what I am doing. If you are on Facebook, make sure you have joined my photography page (there is a link in the sidebar here) as, that is usually the most up-to-date with new picture posts!

This past week, my sweet nephew, Micah, turned one. His party was last Saturday, so before the party we did his cake smash session. Everything about this was atypical from what most photographers prefer…outside vs. high-key (all-white) studio shots…chocolate cake (too gross and messy) vs. yellow cake and white icing…bib overalls vs. diaper cover or tutu. But I had envisioned exactly the look I wanted for this session, and I got almost everything I wanted, except for the actual location. I would have preferred this on stone steps with a dark wood door in the background. But you can’t have everything and I am so glad I thought outside the box and did something different. Micah loved it…and besides, what goes together better than a little boy, bib overalls, a dump truck, a set of tools and the messiest dirt cake ever???

Started off nice and clean and I knew when I saw this that I wanted to edit it in “vintage” style!

He wasn’t completely sure what he was supposed to do at first!

Are you SURE it’s cake?

Yeah, now he has the hang of it!

I love baby eyelashes!

Hamilton, Ohio Senior Pictures//Jake

I hope everybody has been enjoying the cooler weather. I know I have! It was almost a little too cold and dreary this weekend, and we had to delay Jake’s senior session from Saturday to Sunday due to a late afternoon downpour. It was cold, windy and cloudy, but the moody skies actually worked with the dramatic lighting we used. Jake is the goalie for the Hamilton Big Blue varsity soccer team, so we knew we wanted to get some great shots on the field. Jake, you owned this session and I’m looking forward to getting some more images on the baseball field. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Hamilton, Ohio Senior Pictures//Congratulations Dominic!

I was thrilled to see that one of my senior reps, Dominic Jonson, was crowned as Homecoming King at the Hamilton Big Blue game last night! How exciting is that??? His mom, Gina, texted me to say “My baby is king!”. I can’t believe I wasn’t there…first homecoming game I have missed in several years. But my baby was home from college for a family funeral, and we spent a quiet evening hanging out together. So Dominic, I hate that I missed your “coronation”, but I am so happy for you! Congratulations, and here is a edgy edit of one of my favorites from your session. Enjoy!

Hamilton, Ohio Senior Pictures//Connor

It has been awhile since I have blogged a new post :(   It has been a very interesting and busy couple of months here at bella vita photography. I did the underclass pictures for Options Academy-The Arts (part of Butler Tech). I am also doing the photography for LifeCenter’s 2011 calendar. I have met so many amazing people whose lives have been touched through the gift of organ donation and I am hoping to share some images from these sessions in the next few weeks!

I also had the chance to get away for a much needed vacation to Austin, Texas last week. The change of scenery and schedule was just what I needed to recharge my internal battery and get my creative mojo flowing! My first day back I was lucky enough to spend it doing a senior photo session with Connor. Connor is a senior at Hamilton High School and is on the Big Blue Varsity football team. So, of course, we wanted to do some images at the stadium. We also went to Vora Technology Park, then back to the studio. We ran out of time (Bengals kick-off made a quick end to the session!), but are planning to do some additional images with his car in the near future. Kellee and Connor, you were great to work with, and I hope you had a good time. I already posted these on facebook, but here are the sneak peek images again!
